Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh card glossary

Set codes, OCG, rarity names, condition words, and graded versus raw, with links to the pages that hold the sourced detail.

Use this page to name the printing, then open the page that actually prices it. Definitions below are the ones already used on the rarity decoder, the search-term list, and the card file. No card scan is shown here.

OCG and language

OCG, on this site, means the Japanese printing. The English name is a label. The Japanese name and the set code identify the card. 青眼の白龍, ブラック・マジシャン, and 真紅眼の黒竜 each link to the YAC1 printings this catalog prices.

Set code

A set code is the set prefix plus the card number, as in YAC1-JP073. The finish is written next to it. The set-code guide breaks that example apart. The set’s price page is Original Artwork Collection.

Rarity

These are the finishes named on Konami’s YAC1 product page and decoded on the rarity page.

WordJapaneseWhat to look for
Ultra RareウルトラレアGold-foil name. The artwork is not the holographic film of a Secret.
Secret RareシークレットレアHolographic name and a sparkle across the artwork.
Ultimate RareアルティメットレアEmbossed finish. Sellers often write レリーフ.
Prismatic SecretプリズマティックシークレットレアThe denser prismatic finish. YAC1 has 38, and 10 of them are Over-Frame.
Over-FrameオーバーフレームJP001–JP010 on YAC1. The product page names them and does not describe the foil.

Color and monochrome (カラー and モノクロ) are artwork versions, not rarities. YAC1-JP073 keeps them on separate rows.

Condition

Mercari’s buyer-facing grades include 新品、未使用 and 未使用に近い and 目立った傷や汚れなし. A seller’s 美品 is not one of those grades and is not a slab grade. The full list, with the source of each term, is Japanese search terms. Choosing a condition on a card page shows the Japanese grade. The yen on that page stays the stored yen.

Graded and raw

A raw sale and a slab are different evidence. PSA’s 1–10 scale is PSA’s, and a PSA 10 is not a raw 美品. This site does not store a multiplier from a raw copy to a slab. Graded sold prices and population counts are shown only when a dated source for that exact printing and grade is copied onto the page.

Price words

A shop ask is a retail listing, including Card Rush and Yuyutei. A sold price is a completed sale. 買取 is what a shop pays. The valuation guide walks through that split, and the methodology says which rows enter a typical price.

A wrong match or a yen figure that disagrees with its source is a correction.

Questions

What does OCG mean here?

On this site, OCG means the Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh cards printed for that market. A Japanese printing and an English printing of the same character are different pages.

Is 美品 the same as Near Mint?

美品 is a seller’s word. It is not a grade this site treats as Near Mint, and it is not a PSA 10. The condition list is on the search-terms page.
