How much Buyee really costs for one card

A worked yen total for a single Japanese card on Buyee, using the fees checked on 13 October 2026.

The complaint is consistent: the listing looked cheap, and the parcel did not. Here is the bill for one card with the fees in the data file, checked 13 October 2026.

Buyee does not publish a flat “shipping for one card.” The EMS and Air Packet numbers are postage. Their invoice is often higher. Treat them as a floor.

The ¥29,800 example

That figure is the CardRush standard-stock ask for YAC1 Blue-Eyes White Dragon, color Secret, read on 13 October 2026. It is a shop ask, not a sold price.

Total ¥34,200 ≈ $216.29, 15% more than the listing price of $188.46, at the 13 October 2026 reference rate of ¥158.12 per dollar. Still an estimate until Buyee quotes the box.

Drop the same card onto Air Packet 200g and the postage falls to ¥1,410, if they will actually ship it that way. The calculator’s comparison row is there for that spread.

The cheap-card version

An ¥800 Ultra plus the same EMS box is ¥800 + ¥500 + ¥3,900 = ¥5,200 before tax. Shipping and the purchase fee are six times the card. That is the shape of the posts this site is answering. Consolidate several cards into one box if you can wait; Buyee’s consolidation fee is not in this single-item total.

US import duty at the general playing-card rate is 0%. That does not include brokerage or any extra tariff. The duty guide keeps those separate.

Open the example in the calculator and replace the postage with a quote if you have one. The share link is the number worth sending to a friend.

Questions

What is a realistic Buyee total for the Blue-Eyes color Secret?

The 13 October 2026 CardRush ask is ¥29,800. With the Lite plan, no domestic shipping, and Japan Post EMS up to 500g, the calculator’s example is ¥34,200 before any card foreign-transaction fee. That postage line is Japan Post’s rate, not Buyee’s invoice.

Why do people say shipping cost more than the item?

A cheap card plus a 500g EMS box to the United States is ¥3,900 in postage alone, before Buyee’s ¥500 purchase fee. On a ¥1,000 card that postage is the whole story.
